Index futures rise amid falling yields, but will it last long?

Recently, we have observed a rise in bond yields and US inflation. The US central bank did not stand aside and made encouraging statements to reassure the markets.

Along with this, index futures have extended gains. Thus, NASDAQ rose by 1.1%, while the European exchanges followed the trend but to a lesser extent.

As a result, statements made by the US Federal Reserve and the growth of futures turned out to be a profitable combination. Thus, the Tokyo Stock Exchange Index gained 1.02% at the beginning of the trade. For your reference, over the past month, the market has been mostly bearish due to a drop in oil production and escalation of tensions between the US and China.

Yet, despite the remaining confrontation between the two superpowers, China and other Asian countries are still dependent on the US dollar and the statements from US officials.

Bond yields and futures market remain volatile

The US Treasury yields may continue to rise even despite the optimism of Democrats over the current amendments. This scenario is quite possible, especially against the backdrop of the previous Biden administration's package that was not passed. This will definitely disappoint investors who already anticipate high fluctuations amid inflation.

Now there is a hope that some of the investments will stay in the stockpiles. However, in January, many companies invested in oil, but its production dropped due to the extreme weather conditions in the northern hemisphere.

As it gets warmer, companies can change the trend and start getting rid of the surplus to buy oil in summer at completely different prices. Therefore, the estimates of the US Department of Commerce may not be confirmed. Given the failure of the business support program, this will cause inflation, a weakening of the futures market, and a new round of pessimism.
